Ms. Henderson

Hi, I'm Ms. Henderson, the First Grade teacher at McDowell. It's such a pleasure to be here! I've been teaching for three years, and I'm so excited to continue sharing my knowledge and experience. I grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from Monmouth College with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, a Human Services Concentration, and a Minor in Psychology. After graduation, I returned to Chicago and followed my passion for working with children by becoming a teacher. I earned a Master's in Early Childhood Education and an Education Specialist Degree in Advanced Curriculum and Instruction/Special Education from National Louis University.

Currently serving as the Chair of the Primary Department, teaching is a fulfilling experience for me, as I enjoy building meaningful relationships with my students and helping them maximize their potential. In my class, we practice daily affirmations to promote positivity and confidence among students. “I can try my best. I can do hard things. I can face new challenges. I can figure this out. I can accomplish anything.”

During my free time outside of classes, I love to sing, hang out with my loved ones, and travel. I'm excited for the upcoming year and all the opportunities it will bring for us to learn, have fun, and go on adventures together.
