Writing Prompts for 2022 to 2023

September: September: In your opinion, what’s the most important school supply in your classroom and why? Give three reasons why this school supply is important to your success in class.

October: It’s Halloween season! This month you will be writing a narrative story about the Halloween or Fall season. You will need to develop characters, setting, and plot for your story. Be creative and feel free to make it as spooky or scary as you want!

November: In your opinion, which Holiday season is the best? Choose your favorite holiday and defend why it is the best one! Include at least three reasons to support your choice. (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Ramadan, Eid, Easter, July 4th, etc)

December: Imagine you are a theater critic. Write a review of The Nutcracker after viewing the live performance on Friday, December 9th. In your review, include the highlights of the performance as well as areas for improvement and whether the performance remained true to the story.

January: We are halfway throujgh the school year and have a chance to reset and make new goals for the rest of the year.
K-1: What is your New Year’s Resolution for the rest of the school year? Make sure to include your plans for how you will reach this goal. K
2nd-5th: What is your New Year’s Resolution for this year? You must include one resolution that focuses on school and one that focuses on home/outside of school. Make sure to include why you chose this, your plans for how you will reach this goal, and what help/resources you might need to reach the goal. -
February: Valentine’s day is coming up and one of the things we are working on is self-love. Write a love letter to yourself including things such as what you are proud of yourself for, what you want to improve in, what you need encouragement in, and any affirmations you want to include.
Black History Month is a month to remember and celebrate the impact that Black leaders and individuals had and continue to have an impact on our country, culture, and communities. Write a letter to a Black leader or individual expressing gratitude for the impact they have had on the Black community and how their work affects your life today. -
