Mr. McEachran

My name is Tim McEachran and I will be the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) instructor and one of the Special Education teachers this school year. This is my eighth year as an educator. I taught 5th Grade for four years at McDowell and was an SEL support teacher at a CPS high school for two years before returning to McDowell last year.

I am originally from North Carolina and moved to Chicago directly after college. I attended University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Tarheels!) for my bachelor’s degree and Dominican University for my Masters in Teaching. My favorite part of teaching is finding ways for students to engage in content that helps them relate their own identity and growth to the world around them. During SEL Class this year, students will be building community with one another, focusing on their identity and values, and connecting to their community.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife and getting a chance to visit with my nieces and nephews in North Carolina and California. I love UNC Tarheel college basketball, Bears football, and playing tennis with friends.
