Welcome and welcome back, an adventure awaits!

It is a pleasure to meet you, I am Ms. Hayes, a veteran Head Start teacher of 16+ years. I am a Chicago native and a proud recipient of a quality education from Chicago Public Schools. I attended and graduated from Lindblom Technical High School. My undergraduate work was done at Mundelein College / Loyola University and my master’s degree in education was earned at Saint Xavier College—both schools are located in Chicago, Illinois. I also am fortunate to have earned National Board Certification as an Early Childhood Specialist. I am currently obtaining an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

My undergraduate studies were Fine Art and English Communications and I spent the beginning of my adult career as a graphic artist and designer in and around the Chicago area. Education has become my “second but not less than” profession. Since becoming a teacher, I have always maintained a creative approach to educating young children and have incorporated art and project-based learning into all subject matter I am responsible for teaching.  My personal philosophy is that I believe all students can learn in an environment that is creative, nurturing, and  developmentally appropriate. I believe the 2 backgrounds have proven over time to mesh extremely well and provide a unique learning experience for very young learners.

Feel free to visit my other websites for more personal philosophies and art work. I am evolving even at this late stage in my life, I am less fearful and more creative than ever.
